CBP® Certified Clinic 5.0★ Patient Rating Computer-Guided Protocols

What is spinal decompression?

Negative pressure that pulls bulges back — and rehydrates worn discs.

Spinal decompression uses pre-programmed cycles of gentle traction to separate the vertebrae by just a few millimeters. That tiny amount of space creates negative pressure inside the disc — pulling bulged and herniated material back toward center and drawing fluid, oxygen, and nutrients into the disc so it can heal.

Because it's computer-controlled, the pull is precise, comfortable, and targeted to the exact spinal level involved. There's no forceful pulling, no muscle guarding, and no downtime — just a proven, non-invasive way to take pressure off the discs and nerves driving your pain.

How it works

Your decompression care, step by step.

1

Consultation & exam

We review your history, symptoms, and imaging — and run a focused neurological and orthopedic exam.

2

Imaging review

We identify the exact disc levels involved and confirm decompression is the right fit for your case.

3

Custom protocol

A series of comfortable, computer-guided sessions — often paired with CBP® adjustments and rehab.

4

Progress re-check

Objective outcome measures and re-imaging when indicated — so we can prove the change is real.

Conditions we resolve

Who spinal decompression helps most.

Disc bulges & herniations

Pull disc material back toward center and rehydrate the disc.

Sciatica & radiating leg pain

Relieve pressure on the nerve root driving the pain.

Pinched nerves

Open the space around compressed nerves to calm inflammation.

Degenerative disc disease

Restore disc height and improve nutrient flow to worn discs.

Failed back surgery syndrome

A conservative option when previous surgery didn't resolve the pain.

Chronic low-back pain

Address the disc-level mechanics driving persistent back pain.

Am I a candidate?

If any of these sound like you, decompression is worth a conversation.

Every case is different. The only way to know for sure is an exam and a look at your imaging — no obligation, no pressure.

Book a candidacy exam
  • MRI or x-ray confirms a disc bulge, herniation, or degeneration
  • Sharp, burning, or radiating pain down the leg or arm
  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the hands, feet, or legs
  • Pain that worsens with sitting, bending, or lifting
  • Told you need injections or surgery, but want another option
  • Traditional chiropractic or PT hasn't fully resolved the issue

Frequently asked

Decompression questions, answered.

Is spinal decompression painful?+

No. Most patients describe the sessions as relaxing — a gentle, sustained stretch. There's no popping, cracking, or forceful manipulation involved.

How many sessions will I need?+

Most protocols range from 12 to 24 sessions over 6–8 weeks, depending on the severity of the disc injury and how long it's been present. We build your plan around your imaging and exam findings — and re-measure to prove it's working.

Does insurance cover decompression?+

Coverage depends on your plan. We provide a detailed superbill for out-of-network reimbursement and will explain our self-pay pricing up front. Many patients find decompression significantly less expensive than injections or surgery.

How is this different from surgery?+

Decompression is non-invasive — no incisions, no anesthesia, no downtime. It treats the underlying disc pressure that's irritating the nerve, so many patients avoid surgery entirely.

How is this different from regular traction?+

Traditional traction pulls in one direction with constant force, which often triggers muscle guarding. Our computer-guided decompression uses pre-programmed cycles that trick the muscles into staying relaxed, creating true negative pressure inside the disc.

Are there any side effects?+

Side effects are rare and usually limited to mild muscle soreness in the first few sessions, similar to starting a new exercise routine. We screen for contraindications during your exam.
